Polythene
Like me, black on the outside
But unlike me
Black on the inside
Its blackness on the outside
Keeps eyes out.
Away from him
From seeing what is within him
My blackness, draw attention
And fears, stares, taunts and curiousity
I am red on the inside unlike the polythene
Red, yellow and green
Perhaps thats why Great mother Theodosia
Drew them.
To remind us and them that we are all
The same inside; Equals
Even if you can’t see it on the outside
